James W. “Jimmy” Steen Jr. 75, of Summerton, husband of Maree H. Steen, died Sunday, June 11, 2017.
Born Feb. 3, 1942, in Anniston, Alabama, he was a son of James Wallace Steen Sr. and Bertha Dodd Steen. He was a native of Columbia for more than 45 years. He loved his family more than anything. He loved his wife with all his heart and told her that every day. He loved fishing, hunting and cooking, and passed that on to his kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He retired to his little cabin on Lake Marion in Santee.
Survivors besides his loving wife of 56 years include his children, Carla (John) Bell, James "Jamie" Wallace (Sarah) Steen III, John A. Steen and Jeremy (Tracy Stallings) Steen; his grandchildren, John E. Bell Jr., Christopher S. Bell, James W. Steen IV, Katheryn Steen, Jahmal Steen, Jacob Steen, Brittany Steen, Kateline Steen and Ashley Steen; and his great-grandchildren, Maranda Tucker, Nickolas Tucker, Jarrod Banks and his "little darling," Kaliyah Steen.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Patricia S. Hornsby and Gary L. Steen.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, June 15, 2017, at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road in Columbia.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, June 15, 2017, at the funeral home.
Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
