Henry Lee Polk, husband of Neino Washington Polk, died Sunday, May 21, 2017, at his home, with his lovely and devoted wife.

Born March 30, 1937, in Sumter County, he was the oldest son of seven children born to the late Oliver Lee Polk and Louvenia Canty Polk. He attended Sumter County public schools.

He was a dedicated farmer and caretaker at Milford Plantation. He retired from there after 48 years.

He was a dedicated and faithful member of Zion Hill AME Church of Pinewood, where he served as steward emeritus, as a member of the Trustee Board and as a class leader.

Survivors besides his devoted wife of 55 years include three children, Loretta Polk (Daryl) Houck, Naomie Polk (the Rev. Dr. Lewis) Walker Jr., both of Sumter, and Delphine Polk-Bethune of Columbia; six grandchildren, Kaitlyn Ruth Houck of Conway, Spec. Kendrick Dakota Houck of Honolulu, Hawaii, Derius Kylo Bethune of Columbia, Kendall DeAnte Houck of Sumter, Lewis Jarrod Walker and Porsha Dionne Walker, both of Charlotte, North Carolina; three brothers, Isham (Dora) Polk of Pinewood, Louis Polk of Columbia and Oliver (Sharonlyn) Polk of Sumter; two sisters, Luvenia P. Campbell and Esther R. Polk, both of Pinewood; an aunt, Sarah Canty of Seneca; three brothers-in-law, eight sisters-in-law, three special friends, Louie Hall of Pinewood, Emory Clark of Metamora, Michigan, and Richard H. Jenrette of New York, New York; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Louise Polk; and a sister-in-law, Suszanna Cathy Polk.

Funeral service for Mr. Polk will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 27, 2017, at Enon Baptist Church on Pinewood Road in Sumter.

Pastor Stanley E. Hayes Sr., worship leader, licentiate Deidra H. Pleasant, and the Rev. Malcolm O. Simpson will deliver words of comfort, assisted by the Rev. Patrick B. Mellerson, the Rev. Dr. Lewis Walker Jr. and Minister Stanley E. Hayes Jr.

Burial will follow in the Manning Cemetery at Zion AME Church in Pinewood.

Visitations will be at the home, 8220 Milford Plantation Road in Pinewood.

The staff of Sumter Funeral Service Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
