Kellogg recalling limited number of Eggo waffles

Posted
Kellogg Company Inc. has issued a voluntary recall of about 10,000 cases of Kellogg's Eggo Nutri-Grain Whole Wheat Waffles, which may have the potential to be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes. No other Eggo products have been impacted by this recall. Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women. The recall is a result of routine tests that the company conducts which identified the potential for contamination. As soon as the company learned of a potential concern, it moved quickly to identify any foods that might be impacted and resolve the issue. The company has received no reports of illness to date but is taking this action as part of its commitment to the health and safety of the people who eat its foods. Those affected by the recall are asked to discard it and contact the company for a full refund from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, or by visiting www.kellogs.com/en_US/contact-us.html.
