Due to increasing heat and humidity expected Sunday afternoon, the National Weather Service out of Columbia has issued a Heat Advisory for Clarendon County and other surrounding areas in the midlands through 8 p.m. Sunday. Heat indices could reach up to 106, and temperatures will be in the high 90s. The hottest heat index values will occur during the late afternoon and early evening. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments. Do not leave children or pets outside unattended.
