McLeod Health Clarendon announced Friday the closure of the Clarendon Clinic at the close of business Saturday. "The clinic is closing due to very low utilization," according to a letter from McLeod Health. "The patients have been referred to other primary care physicians that are accepting new patients." The clinic closes at 6 p.m. Saturday. It is the third closure announced by the hospital since May, when Clarendon Hospital District officials announced the closure of J. Dalton DuBose Medical Center in Summerton. The hospital then announced the closure of East Clarendon Medical Center in Turbeville in late June. Dr. Akkineni has relocated her practice to 20 E. Hospital St., Suite 2, in Manning. She will be adjacent to Clarendon Surgical Specialists. Akkineni’s new practice will be Clarendon Senior Health Care, and will treat patients 55 and older. Her office telephone will be (803) 433-3052. For patients younger than 55, Clarendon Medical Associates has two physician practices accepting new patients, including Palmetto Primary Care, 22 Bozard St. in Manning, (803) 435-8828.
