A North Carolina man was charged with driving without a South Carolina driver's license and with shopllifting after allegedly stealing a beard trimmer valued at about $9.15 from a store in the first block of Sunset Drive. According to police, 51-year-old Eugene Randall Pait of 2791 Grimsley Farm Road in Bladenboro, North Carolina, entered the store about 12:28 p.m. April 25, walked to Aisle No. 8 and took the trimmer out of the box. He allegedly then attempted to hide the box behind potato chips before dropping it in a box to the right of the chips on the floor. The store's manager called police and reported Pait leaving the store in a black Mazda pickup truck bearing North Carolina tags. Police stopped Pait on Boyce Street. According to reports, there was video of Pait entering the business and picking up the trimmer box, but there was no video available at the time for the spot where Paid allegedly attempted the theft of the item. During the traffic stop, it was discovered that Pait allegedly had no valid driver's license. The store's manager said he would provide police with further video surveillance.
