MT. PLEASANT - Renee Cousar Benefield, 56, wife of Douglas Glass Benefield, died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015, at her home.

Born Sept. 19, 1959, in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late William Douglas Cousar and the late Eve Witherspoon Blackwell Cousar. She was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church where she volunteered with the children's ministry. Renee was a loving mother and a devoted wife.

She is survived by her husband of Mt. Pleasant; two sons, US Army Captain Benjamin Michael Carnell (Beverly) of Summerville and John William Carnell of Florence; a daughter, Eva Suzanne Benefield of Mt. Pleasant; a brother, Michael Cousar (Carrie) of Anderson; a nephew, Davis Cousar; and three nieces, Anne Douglas Cousar, Caroline Cousar and Ella Cate Cousar.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015, at the Sardinia-Gable cemetery, with the Rev. Marshall Blalock officiating.

The family will receive friends at the home of Mrs. E. Henry Goza, 3410 Florence Highway in Mayesville, immediately following the graveside service.
