A Manning man is wanted in Pennsylvania for his alleged role in the kidnapping there of another South Carolina man.
The York Dispatch of York, Pennsylvania, reported Sunday night that Jawan Mack, 19, of Manning, was part of a group of suspects that allegedly assaulted and kidnapped another South Carolina man, Edward Mulholland.
Fairview Township, Pennsylvania, Detective Jarrett Boyles said Mulholland was kidnapped from a township motel, badly beaten and eventually dumped in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, after an argument over an unpaid debt.
According to reports, Mulholland went to Room 216 of the Scottish Inn off Interstate 83 about 5:15 p.m. June 22 to hang out with suspects known to him only at the time as “Charlie” and “Kim,” when two other suspects known as “Little L” and “D” came out of the room’s bathroom and attacked him.
The men bound Mulholland’s hand’s and forced him into the bathroom, stripped him and search him for money, before forcing him into a pickup truck and driving him to Harrisburg.
“Once inside, they tightened the rope binding his hands, punched him, kicked him and left him there, documents state,” reads the York Dispatch.
Brenda Sue Mulkey, 50, of Harrisburg, was later identified as “Kim,” and was charged with conspiracy. She told police that “Little L” was Mack, who now faces charges of kidnapping, robbery and aggravated assault. Boyles said they are still searching for Mack and the second suspect, about whom less information was available.
“We are conducting interviews and still investigating,” Boyles told the York newspaper.
Boyles said the victim and his attackers worked for the same traveling painting business, and that Mulkey had been dating a man who also works for the business. The men were staying in motels as they traveled from job to job, Boyles added.
