John Richard Brakefield, 87, husband of Roberta Elizabeth Clack Brakefield, died Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at his home.
Born May 12, 1928, in Chester, he was the son of the late William Boyd Brakefield and Annie Mae Bailey Brakefield. He was an avid Furman Paladin football fan, loved hunting, fishing and most of all farming with his grandsons. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Manning.
Survivors besides his wife of Manning include a son, Mike Brakefield (Lisa) of Anna Maria Island, Florida; a daughter, Debbie B. Cothran (Ferrell) of Manning; five grandchildren, Marion E. DuBose IV (Ashley), Molly McKinnon (Eric), Kaytlin Brakefield, Callison Brakefield and Michael Cothran (Laci); four great grandchildren, Anna Kate DuBose, Emerie Claire McKinnon, M.E. DuBose V and Rowan Michael McKinnon.
A funeral service for John Richard Brakefield will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 22, 2015, at the Presbyterian Church at Manning, with the Rev. Dr. George G. Wilkes officiating. Burial will follow in Clarendon Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held at the home, 1444 Hickory Ridge Circle in Manning.
