A 61-year-old Charleston man told deputies with the Clarendon County Sheriff's Office about 11:12 a.m. Jan. 17 that someone broke into his other home in the 9000 block of St. Paul Road in Summerton and stole $3,300 worth of items. The man said he had not been to the home in about six months when he stopped by about 7:30 p.m. Jan. 16 on his way home to Charleston from North Carolina. He said he first noticed the gate unlocked and his $2,000 14-foot Boston whaler boat missing. He said other items missing included a 35-horsepower Evinrude motor valued at $500, a drill press valued at $500 and six golf cart batteries valued at $300. The man said while no items were taken from the home, the back door lock was broken and the home was ransacked, according to reports. Deputies agreed to put the man on a property check.
