KINGSTREE – Margaret Daniels Britton, 83, widow of Joseph D. Britton Sr., died Monday, Jan. 5, 2015, at her son’s home.

Born Sept. 17, 1931, in Manning, she was a daughter of the late George Muldrow Daniels and Lessie Kennedy Daniels. She was a graduate of Manning High School and was salutatorian. She was retired from McGill Distributors and later worked at Kingstree Fabric and Kiddie Shop and Tomlinson’s. She was a member of Union Presbyterian Church, where she was a former chairwoman of the Louise Burrows Circle and an active member of The Women in the Church. She was a member of The Red Hat Society and Gardens Makers Garden Club.

Margaret was a devoted wife, a caring mother and grandmother, and always loved being with her family and extended family.

Survivors include a daughter, Allison Britton (Marty) Inman; a son, Joseph Daniel “Jody” (Lisa) Britton Jr.; four grandchildren, J.D. and John Floyd Britton and Alexa and Britton Inman; special caregivers, Judy Jowers, Donna Patterson, Willie Tisdale, Beverly Flowers, and Abby Moore.

In addition to her parents and her husband, J.D. Britton, she was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Loy Daniels.

Funeral services for Margaret Daniels Britton will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015, in Union Presbyterian Church in Salters, with burial following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at Williamsburg Funeral Home, 332 E. Main St. in Kingstree.
