Caleb Scott Austin, a first-year volunteer firefighter with the Clarendon County Fire Department, was named Rookie of the Year on Tuesday night at the Clarendon County Emergency Services Complex.
Dep. Chief Jones said that Austin had a "lot of milestones in his first year, and spent most of it as a junior firefighter."
"In fact, we gave him his black helmet on his 18th birthday at school," Jones said.
