A kitchen fire that started about 8 p.m. Thursday at a home on North Church Street in downtown Manning has displaced a family for a short time, according to the Manning Fire Department. The cause of the fire at the duplex at 234B N. Church St. is undetermined. There was extensive fire damage to the kitchen and smoke damage to the rest of the home. A neighbor told The Manning Times that a man living in the home awoke to find the kitchen ablaze. The man lived alone. Both he and the family in the adjacent unit in the duplex were displaced by the fire.
