COLUMBIA - Jeremy Raynard Mickens, 25, died Friday, June 13, 2014, in Columbia.

Born March 25, 1989, in Sumter, he was a son of Peter Ivan Mickens and Mary Ann Conyers Mickens. He attended Sumter County public schools and graduated from Will Lou Gray Opportunity School in West Columbia. He also attended ITT Technical Institute in Columbia and served in the U.S. Air Force.

Survivors besides his father of Columbia and his mother of Sumter include a brother, Christopher Mickens of Newport News, Va.; his grandmother, Van Jo Mickens of Columbia; four uncles, Columbus (Sarah) Conyers of Paxville, Nolton Conyers and Levi Conyers Jr., both of Philadelphia, Pa., and Elder Dwayne (Sonya) Mickens of Tampa, Fla.; seven aunts, Rosetta (Johnny) Robinson of Manning, Olivia (Williams) Neal of Philadelphia, Pa., Viola (Willie) Miller  and Vanessa Mickens, both of Sumter, Martha (Woodrow) Sharpe of Charlotte, N.C., Valerie (Carl) Thompson of Tampa, and Tina Mickens of Columbia.

Celebratory services for Jeremy Raynard Mickens were 11 a.m. Thursday, June 19, 2014, at Bethesda Church of God, 2730 Broad St. in Sumter, with Pastor Al Sims officiating, District Elder Dwayne A. Mickens Sr. as eulogist and Elder Russell Rogers presiding.

The family received friends at the home of his mother, 882 Club Lane in Sumter.

These services were entrusted to Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning.
