SUMMERTON — Ethel Lee Bowman, 69, died June 11, 2014, at her home in Summerton.

Born Jan. 7, 1945, in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Henry Sanders and Ida Mae Sanders. She attended Clarendon County public schools, and was employed at Econo Lodge for many years.

She was preceded in death by a son, Tom Bowman.

Survivors include three sons, three sons, Nathaniel Vincent Sanders and James Bowman, both of the home, and William Bowman Jr. of Sumter; two daughters, Sherlean (Anthony) Tindal of Pen Brooke Pines, Fla., and Patricia (Gedine) Smiling of Manning; two granddaughters that she reared as her own, Sophia (Roderick) Steward of Pen Brooke Pines, Fla., and Erica Latrice Bowman of Irmo; two brothers, James (Allean) Sanders and Leroy Sanders, both of Summerton; a sister, Everlena (Elijah) Green of Hopkins; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two additional sisters-in-law, Victoria Bowman and Leala Weems, both of Summerton; an additional brother-in-law, Marion Bowman of Summerton; a special niece and nephew, Carolyn (Lorenzo) Woods of Chesapeake, Va., and Ricky Sanders of Irmo; a family friend that she loved like a daughter, Deborah Hart; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Ethel Lee Bowman will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Mt. Pleasant U.M.E. Church, 1628 Fullerton Road, Pinewood. The Rev. Mary Brailsford, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The remains will be placed in the church at noon until the hour of the service.
