James DeBerry Snyder, Sr., 92, widower of Iro Kirby Snyder, died Monday, May 26, 2014, at his home.

Born May 15, 1922, in Manning, he was a son of the late William Thomas Snyder and Dora DeBerry Snyder.He served in World War II in the 35th Infantry as a personnel record clerk for officers and enlisted men.His rank was technical sergeant.He was a retired parts manager for Santee Motor Company, and was a member of Manning United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons, James D. (Donna) Snyder Jr. of Kingstree and Thomas Pickett Snyder of Manning; three daughters, Katherine Ann (Mike) Stumhofer of Columbus, Ga., Sue (Richard) Thom of Denver, N.C., and Jeannie (Craig) Aull of Columbia; a sister, Helen Mills of Columbia; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2014, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. James C. Adams officiating.Burial will follow in the Snyder Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Zachary Aull, Taylor Aull, Keith Aull, John Rathemacher, Tom Snyder and Jim Snyder.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Stephens Funeral Home.
