NORTH CHARLESTON – Ruth Anderson Parker Coker Blake, 87, widow of Joseph Blake Sr., died Monday, April 7, 2014, at her home.

Born Dec. 14, 1926, in Turbeville, she was a daughter of the late Eddie Anderson and Hulda Barfield Anderson. She was a member of Journey Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty (Reggie) Welch of North Charleston and Beth Dickerson of Sumter; two grandchildren, Ronnie (Nikki) Welch of Seneca and Melanie Hill of Sumter; four great-grandchildren, John Jordan, Jennifer Hill, Jeremy Welch and Brandon Welch; a brother-in-law, Sampson (Margaret) Parker of Sumter; a sister-in-law, Mary Anderson of Manning; and several stepchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by three husbands, Hazel Parker, Woodrow Coker and Joseph Blake Sr.; four brothers, Lamb, John, Pearley and Buddy Anderson; five sisters, Lizzie Christmas, Edna Welch, Marie Bryant, Juanita Parker and Linnie Mae Mosher; a grandson, Billy Jordan; and a son-in-law, David Dickerson.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Heartland Hospice for their love, care and support.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 10, 2014, in the chapel of Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home, 515 Miller Road in Sumter, with Chaplain Galen Moyer and Pastor Betty C. Gainey officiating. Burial will follow in Sumter Cemetery.

The family will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, Beth Dickerson, 1004 Marilyn Ave. in Sumter.
