John Moses Ragin found guilty in Virginia of wife's, stepchildren's deaths

An Alcolu man accused of killing his wife and three stepchildren in Newport News, Va., in 2011, was found guilty of those crimes on Thursday. A jury convicted John Moses Ragin on three counts of capital murder in the children's deaths and second-degree murder in the slaying of his wife, Crystal Ragin, according to the Virginian-Pilot of Virginia. He was also found guilty of arson and unlawful stabbing. Ragin was arrested in Clarendon County in August 2011 after a three-state manhunt, and was charged with fatally stabbing his wife and her children, who were 6, 11 and 15. Their bodies were found in their burned apartment on Aug. 19, 2011. Ragin will be sentenced Monday. He faces either life in prison without parole or death for the slayings.
