Clarendon Hall takes a loss
Clarendon Hall was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They and the Thomas Sumter Academy Generals were almost perfectly matched up, but the Clarendon Hall Saints suffered a 7-6 loss. The Saints were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Generals apparently hadn’t forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2023.
Clarendon Hall’s loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Thomas Sumter Academy, the victory snapped their losing streak at seven games dating back to last season and leaves them with a 1-4 record.
Clarendon Hall will face off against Dorchester Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Dorchester Academy’s defense has only allowed 10.6 points per game this season, so Clarendon Hall’s offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Thomas Sumter Academy, they will challenge Greenwood Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Greenwood Christian’s favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Thomas Sumter Academy has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
Manning holds off East Clarendon
The Manning Monarchs (Manning, SC) football tipped the visiting East Clarendon Wolverines (Turbeville, SC), 15-12 in Monday’s league outing.
The Monarchs now sport a 4-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Kingstree for a AA Region 7 outing on Friday, October 4. Manning will clash with a Blazers squad coming off a 16-14 league win over Lake City (Lake City, SC). The Blazers record now stands at 2-4.
With the defeat, East Clarendon drops to 4-2 on the campaign. The Wolverines host Kingstree (Kingstree, SC) to clash with the Blazers in a AA Region 7 outing on Friday, October 11. The Blazers come into the outing with a record of 2-4.
Hammond’s victory over LMA extends winning streak to 16
Hammond put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by the Laurence Manning Academy Swampcats at home to the tune of 65-14. The result was nothing new for the Skyhawks, who have now won five games by 28 points or more so far this season.
Hammond had a senior duo take command as Andrew Turner threw for 221 yards and two touchdowns while completing 88.9% of his passes and Immanuel Johnson rushed for 96 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Kinson Holland, who rushed for 78 yards and a touchdown on only six carries.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Hammond was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 241 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they’ve now rushed for at least 155 rushing yards in three consecutive matchups.
Hammond’s win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. As for Laurence Manning Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hammond’s homestand will continue as they prepare to take on Augusta Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hammond has been dominant on offense recently, as they’ve racked up an incredible 168 points over their last three matches. As for Laurence Manning Academy, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Cardinal Newman at 7:30 p.m.
Scott’s Branch smashes St. John’s
The Scott’s Branch Eagles (Summerton, SC) football trounced the host St. John’s Islanders (John’s Island, SC), 58-6 in Monday’s league outing.
The Eagles now sport a 2-4 record. They take the field next when they host Cross for a A Region 5 outing on Friday, October 11.
With the defeat, St. John’s drops to 0-5 on the campaign. The Islanders travel to Cross (Cross, SC) to clash with the Trojans in a A Region 5 outing on Friday, October 4. The Trojans come into the outing with a record of 4-2. Cross won 56-7 in their recent league outing against Branchville (Branchville, SC).
