Posted

Manning Junior High School is one of 22 South Carolina schools awarded funds last week to implement At-Risk Innovative Intercession programs at the school.

The money will provide direct services to "targeted groups of students during the remainder of the 2013-14 school year," according to Sabrina Moore, director of the state Department of Education's Office of Student Intervention Services.

"All recipients will (also) provide a minimum of three additional weeks of academic instruction during the summer months," Moore added.

The awards will range between $90,000 and $292,000 during the next 2.5 years, she said.

Neighboring counties who also received grants include the Palmetto Youth Academy in Florence School District 1; Lower Lee and West Lee Elementary in Lee County; and Charter Health High School in Orangeburg School District 5.
