Manning Lions Club holds blind fishing event

Posted

The South Carolina Lions Vision Services Blind Fishing Event was held on April 27th at the South Carolina Waterfowl Association’s Camp Woodie in Clarendon County. This event was an enormous success.  Forty blind or severely visually impaired participants from all over South Carolina came to Clarendon County for a day of fishing and fun. The weather was beautiful, and the fish were biting. Manning Lion Joe McNeil was the tournament director, and he was supported by volunteers from the Manning Club and 14 other Lions Clubs from across the state, plus volunteers from Boeing-South Carolina.  A huge thank you to Zebco for donating 60 new rods and reels for this annual event.

Our champion angler was Chip Hanzlik of Sumter County.  Chip caught over 30 fish, far surpassing his nearest competitor.  Besides his trophy, Lions Vision Services will send him to the national event on North Carolina’s Outer Banks this fall.
