Posted

Last month, the Manning Rotary Club elected new officers with Johnson James of State Farm Insurance stepping into the role of Club President. Leigh Ann Maynard, Publisher of The Manning Times, was named Sergeant of Arms, while Louis Griffith of Bank of Clarendon continued as Treasurer. The club holds its weekly meetings every Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. at Porter Jack’s in Manning.

During last week’s meeting, the guest speaker was Ralph Ardis, owner of Will Do Kennels in Summerton. Ardis provided an in-depth look into his business, which specializes in retriever and obedience training, as well as boarding services. He emphasized that Will Do Kennels goes beyond basic obedience, aiming to build a strong bond between dogs and their owners through a comprehensive six-week training program.

Ardis shared personal stories, including the emotional farewell to his master national Hall of Fame retriever, Louis, who was put down due to kidney failure. He also highlighted the kennel’s involvement in community events like the annual Duck Fest, where they often demonstrate retriever training techniques.

Reflecting on the broader human-dog relationship, Ardis underscored the importance of fostering trust and understanding, whether for casual walks or competitive hunting. His passion for dogs and the outdoors remains the driving force behind Will Do Kennels, as he continues to nurture relationships between owners and their canine companions.

The Manning Rotary Club is part of a global network of over 1.2 million members who unite to create lasting change in communities worldwide. The club remains committed to promoting peace, fighting disease, supporting education, and growing local economies through its various initiatives.
