On Oct. 14 and 15, the Manning Lions Club held their annual Candy Day fundraiser. The Manning Walmart Store and the Manning Piggly-Wiggly Store graciously provided space at their entrances for club members to solicit donations from customers as well as provide information on Lions Club activities and projects. These projects provide services to the needy individuals in Manning and surrounding communities, including:
·eye exams, eyeglasses and hearing aids
·corneal transplants and cataract surgery
·eye screening for preschool and elementary school children
·support camps for blind and sight impaired
·help provide leader dogs for sight impaired
·construct and install wheelchair ramps
·transport and distribute food and other essentials
·and work with local health care officials to promote diabetes testing and awareness
In addition to donations from individuals at the store sites, the Manning Lions received donations directly from the following businesses and entities:
