John "Johnny" William Baker

John “Johnny” William Baker, 80, husband of Toni Shady Baker, died Monday, May 8, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.

Born December 17, 1942, in Gable, he was a son of the late Edward Caroll Baker and the late Beulah Olean Morris Baker. He served in the National Guard and was a member of Gideons Clarendon Camp and Clarendon Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years of Manning; a son, John William Baker, Jr. (Renee) of Sumter; a daughter, Betsi Baker Williamson (Jeff) of Greenville; four grandchildren, Megan Truluck (Ryan) of Hopkins, Chad Baker of Easley, Will Mosier (Kristie) of Sumter and Addison Bass (Randy) of Elgin; a great grandson, Grayson Truluck; a sister, Linda Lowder of Manning; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Clarendon Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Mike DeCosta officiating.

*In case of inclement weather, the service will be held in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Chad Baker, Will Mosier, David Baker, Tripp Baker, Shawn Shady and Lee McArthur.

The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service and other times at the residence, 1163 Seminole Drive, Manning.
