F.E. DuBose Career Center's FCCLA Chapter leads successful shoe drive fundraiser for Camp Happy Days

Posted

The Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Chapter at F.E. DuBose Career Center in Manning has successfully concluded a Shoe Drive Fundraiser, amassing over 1,000 pairs of shoes, both new and gently used, as part of their Community Service Project. This commendable effort aimed to provide crucial support to children with cancer and assist micro-entrepreneurs in developing countries.

All proceeds from the shoe drive will benefit Camp Happy Days, allowing a child battling cancer the opportunity to enjoy a nurturing and fun camp experience. Additionally, the collected shoes have been sent to countries including Haiti, Cambodia, and Botswana, where approximately 300 million people are without shoes. This initiative supports over 4,000 micro-entrepreneurs who sell the donated shoes to sustain their families.
Chef Jean Shaw, FEDCC FCCLA Chapter Advisor and Culinary Arts Instructor speaks about the leadership of FCCLA 2023-2024 State Office of Community Service Alayna Lemon.
