Donald Robert Price

Donald Robert Price, 84, husband of Virginia Carolyn Young Price, died Thursday, June 29, 2023, at his home.

Born October 27, 1938, in Collinsville, TX, he was a son of the late William Wortham Price, Sr. and the late Myrtle Edna Burgess Price. He was a US Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War and retired as a Master Sergeant with 23 years of service. He retired from USF&G Insurance Company as an insurance adjuster. He was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America, American Legion, and Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years of Summerton; two daughters, Sandi Bramlette (Andy) of Rembert and Melissa Singletary (Sam) of Summerville; twelve grandchildren, Justin Hurst (Courtney), Toni Hurst (Nick), Karen Kolb (Jason), Shelley Avins (Sam), Joseph Winfield, Jr. (Brittani), Jenna Winfield, Robbi Tidwell (Chase), Bryce Singletary (Katie), Ashley Ruble (Jim), Rocky Andrews Bramlette, Tonya Yvonne Smith and Paul Adam Bramlette; twenty great grandchildren; three sisters, Rebecca Tyler, Movella Breedon (Lynn) and Betty Jeanette Arrington, all of Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jewl Austin Bryant; two stepsons, Carl Raymond Hurst and James Lawton Hurst; and two brothers, William “Bill” Wortham Price, Jr. and James Dewayne “Buster” Price.

A funeral service was held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 2, 2023, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. William Jeffers and the Rev. Dr. David H. Dinkins officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Sumter.

Pallbearers will be Justin Hurst, Andy Bramlette, Sam Singletary, Sam Avins, Jr., Joseph Winfield, Jr., Chase Tidwell and Nick Marquez.

Honorary pallbearers will be Vietnam Veterans of America. Visitation was one hour prior to the service from 2 to 3 p.m. at Stephens Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Vietnam Veterans of America, www.vva.org .
