The Clarendon County School District is excited to announce the implementation of the L.O.S.T (Local Option Sales Tax) budget for the 2024-2025 fiscal year. This budget represents a significant investment in enhancing the safety, security, and overall learning environment within our schools. CCSD is committed to ensuring that our structures are secure and that our facilities provide conducive environments for students and staff alike.

“This budget signifies our commitment to creating safe and effective learning environments for our students and staff,” stated Dr. Shawn Johnson, CCSD Superintendent. “By investing in these essential upgrades, we are not only enhancing security but also ensuring that our schools are equipped to provide a 21st-century education. Together, we can foster an environment where academic excellence can flourish.” Key initiatives funded through this budget include:

❖ Connected District Phones: We will be upgrading our communication systems by providing fully connected district phones throughout our schools. This improvement will enhance communication and coordination between staff and administration, ensuring that information is shared promptly and efficiently.

❖ Fire Alarm Panel Upgrades: To maintain the highest safety standards, we will be upgrading fire alarm panels across the district, ensuring that all schools comply with the latest safety regulations.

❖ Parking Lot Repair and Replacement: To improve accessibility and safety, we are allocating funds for the repair and replacement of parking lots throughout the district, providing safe areas for students, staff, and visitors.

❖ Upgraded Locking Systems: The security of our students and staff is our top priority. We will be implementing upgraded locking systems in all schools to enhance safety protocols and access control.

❖ Parking Lot Lighting: To ensure safety after dark, improved parking lot lighting will be installed at all district locations, allowing for a secure environment during evening events and activities.

❖ Weapon Detection Systems: In our ongoing efforts to create a secure environment, we are investing in weapon detection systems for all district locations. This initiative will further ensure the safety of everyone who enters our campuses and buildings.

❖ Network Connectivity and IT Equipment: We recognize the importance of providing our staff and students with access to modern technology. As part of this budget, we will be enhancing network connectivity and upgrading IT equipment to ensure that both staff and students have the tools needed to engage in 21st-century learning and efficient work processes. This investment will support digital learning resources and improve overall educational access.

Arthur Moyd, Chair of the CCSD Board of Trustees, emphasized the importance of these initiatives by stating: “This is why the Penny Sales Tax is so important to our district. It allows us to make upgrades that create safer, more equipped, and structurally sound learning environments for our schools.” The Clarendon County School District is dedicated to fostering a secure and supportive educational atmosphere, and we appreciate the continued support of our community in making these improvements possible. Together, we can build a safer and more effective learning environment for our schools, setting the stage for success in the future.
