Clarendon County Coroner Jacqueline Blackwell has successfully completed Level II of the South Carolina Association of Counties’ (SCAC) Institute of Government program, earning recognition among 108 graduates across the state. This achievement reflects her continued commitment to enhancing her leadership skills and serving the residents of Clarendon County.

“Knowledge is the key to success and great leadership. The more you learn, the better you serve. And I am proud to serve the people of Clarendon County,” Blackwell said in a statement shared by Clarendon County Administration. Her accomplishment was celebrated on social media, where officials praised her dedication to the community.

The SCAC Institute of Government, established in 1989, is a rigorous training program aimed at equipping county officials with the necessary tools to perform effectively in their roles. The program is offered in collaboration with the Joseph P. Riley Jr. Center for Livable Communities at the College of Charleston and the Strom Thurmond Institute of Government and Public Affairs at Clemson University.

To complete Level II, participants must attend 18 hours of instruction, choosing from a variety of courses designed to address the specific needs and challenges faced by county officials. Level II is available to graduates of Level I, as well as those who are close to completing the first level.

Blackwell’s completion of the program underscores her dedication to professional development and leadership within Clarendon County. Her achievement will be formally recognized at SCAC’s Annual Conference, where she will receive her certificate.
