I often see broken people trying to develop a relationship with other broken people. Think about that for a minute. If you are broken and I am broken, what does that equate to for the both of us? Two brokenly hurt individuals who came together as one wounded couple. A mechanically inclined person can usually take two broken devices and make one working device. This feat is only possible if the two broken devices do not have the same defective part within it. If the broken devices have the same defective part, you cannot make one good device from the two bad ones.
This is the very reason why it is not a good idea for two individuals who experienced being heartbroken in their last relationship to try to start a serious relationship. Both parties will come into the relationship with predetermined walls making every effort not to be hurt again. I’m not saying that it is impossible, but it will require some sacrifices from both individuals. After all, love covers a multitude of things if we allow it to perform in us. How can a broken person experience love all over again? I’m glad you asked.
“Like any two people on Earth, magnets can either attract or repel each other. What causes these “feelings” between two inanimate objects? The force, of course! Well, not that force but magnetic force! This is called magnetism. Like electricity and gravity, magnetism is a basic force of nature” (blog.pitsco.com). In the realm of magnetic science, like things oppose each other, but opposite attracts.
Connecting two severely broken people are almost like trying to connect the south pole of one magnet to the south pole of another. There will be a force in between the two that will push them away more than together. There is, however, a silver bullet that can break through this opposing force. We must find a way to break up the forces (our ways) that are resisting the connection.
Humans are the most intelligent beings created by God. In the midst of our intelligence, we can be very strong willed. We want things to be our way which can be problematic for any relationship. Broken people must discover ways to heal and become whole again. We must get to the root of the problem and make every attempt to fix the problem. We can buy new clothes, a new vehicle, a new home, or whatever else, but nothing will fix us until we correct the problem that caused us to be broken in the first place. Who are we and what happened to us?
We were made in the image and likeness of God the Father and his Son.
(Gen 1:26). We have taken it upon ourselves not to think like Jesus. Christ said it through the prophet, For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord, Isaiah 55:8. Like magnetic science, God and man are attracted to each other because our ways are different. God in my estimation is north and we are south in our belief system. We are attracted through salvation and the natural magnetic fields of love to develop a relationship with God that will make us eligible for eternal life with the one we love.
I love what the prophet Isaiah wrote, “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;” Isaiah 61:1. The Lord wants to mend our brokenness.
The fact of the matter is this, once you have allowed the Lord to heal your brokenness and the person you are attracted to has allowed the Lord to heal their brokenness, a relationship can be birth. The two of you may or may not be alike at this point. The magnetics force of the Holy Ghost becomes the invisible field that keeps us connected and in love with one another.
When we learn how to honestly love the Lord, loving other people becomes naturally easy.
