A 39-year-old Manning man was charged last week for an alleged sexual assault on a 10-year-old girl six months ago in Sumter County.
Shannon Allen Pack of 1334 Laurens Ave. in Manning was denied bond on a charge of first-degree criminal sexual conduct. Reports from the Sumter County Sheriff's Office indicate a Sumter guardian ad litem told deputies the girl told him about the incident during a home visit at the girl's grandparents' home.
The girl told the guardian ad litem that Pack allegedly raped her, and that her mother knew about it. She had already been removed from the home due to other issues and remains with her grandparents.
Pack faces up to 30 years in prison, if convicted.
