DeLeon Holland, died Monday, March 10, 2014.

Born in Clarendon County, he was a son of William Holland Sr. and Eliza Holland. He was a graduate of local public schools and a veteran of 24 years of service in the U.S. Army. Prior to his retirement, he also had a career in the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church, where he sang with the choir and served as an usher. In recent years, he re-established his home in Chicago.

Survivors include a daughter, Ericka (Rossi) Holland; two grandsons; two sisters, Jamie Taylor and Shirley Davis; and three sisters-in-law, Rebecca Holland, Willie Mae Holland and Camilla Holland.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 21, 2014, at Salem Chapel and Heritage Center, 101 S. Salem Ave. in Sumter, with the Rev. C. Gaymon, pastor of Zion Hill Baptist Church in Paxville, officiating. Burial followed in the Zion Hill-Calvary Cemetery in Pinewood.
