Posted

Bridget Wells, a Clarendon Hall Alumni, was born and raised in Summerton, South Carolina. After graduating from Clarendon Hall, she attended College of Charleston with an undecided major. She had a wonderful experience and time while attending college. She really prayed hard and put her trust in God about finding her path for her career in life. With the guidance of many of her professors and support of her family, she went into the teaching profession and graduated with a degree in special education. She taught special education in Clarendon School District 1 for 8 years and is currently teaching middle school math and science at Clarendon Hall. While teaching middle school math and science, she likes to make herself available to her students and is constantly making learning fun for her students by using different learning styles. She says by comparing math and science to the real world, she really gets her students more involved, and they become better active learners. Having hands-on activities is necessary technique for her teaching classroom. “This really gets them involved and makes math and science fun!” When asked what she loves most about being a teacher, Ms Wells replied with, “ I truly enjoy getting up for work everyday, to me this is not a job but definitely my calling. Her favorite memories while being a teacher are the pre-COVID field trips they used to take. These out of the classroom experiences are really beneficial and fun for the students to enjoy.

With COVID 19 making a huge appearance and shaking everyone’s lives across the world, she is 100% there for all of her students and has tutoring available for any students who need it. When questioned what Ms. Bridgette Wells thought the greatest challenge teachers face today was. she explained, “reaching all of the different needs that our children have and serving them in all areas especially taking the pandemic into consideration.”Three strengths people use to describe Ms. Wells are her patience, understanding and involvement. Being involved with her students is her goal. She does this by showing up to their games and any important events they may have. Making her students feel appreciated is her top priority with being a teacher. Ms Wells was asked about some future goals she plans to achieve. She replied with,” I plan to teach to the best of my ability especially with the changes that were induing and the impact of COVID 19.” She especially loves working with Clarendon Hall because they’re like a big family and are always super supportive in everything they do.
