Laurence Manning Academy will open the SCISA 4A playoffs on familiar turf — and against a familiar opponent.
The Swampcats (6-4) will host Porter-Gaud on Friday night in a first-round rematch of last week’s regular-season finale, a 22-21 thriller that came down to the final minutes. The winner advances to face top-seeded Northwood Academy in the second round.
Laurence Manning has momentum on its side, riding a three-game win streak that includes last week’s one-point victory, which reversed the result of last year’s 52-23 loss to the Cyclones in Charleston.
Porter-Gaud (4-6) leaned heavily on standout running back Amir Chisolm in the loss, as he rushed for 233 yards and a touchdown, averaging nearly 13 yards per carry. Containing Chisolm will again be a priority for the Swampcats' defense.
Friday marks the fifth meeting between the programs in the past three seasons. Laurence Manning has won three of the last four, including playoff matchups in 2023 and 2022.
Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at Billy Chitwood Field.
