Sumter band releases ode to our state

Posted

Sumter area folk rock band THE GREEN SWAMP COLLECTIVE release “Carolina Sun,” a loving ode to life in the Palmetto State. The Green Swamp Collective have been playing their unique blend of folk, rock, and country music across the midlands of SC for a couple of years now, releasing one full length album of original music and a handful of digital singles, the latest being “Carolina Sun.” Penned by guitarist Kevin Jarvis, the song was first planned to be the lead track from the band’s second album, but after playing it live in the summer of 2023 at shows in Sumter, Columbia, Bishopville, Summerton, and Newberry, the overwhelming audience response pushed the band to expedite the release. The upbeat, harmony-infused track, featuring mandolin and fiddle in addition to all the usual suspects, is a poignant overview of what it’s like to live in South Carolina throughout the year. Long time residents and newcomers to the state will certainly relate to the songwriter’s experiences living under that Carolina sun.

The song will be released worldwide for streaming or download from all major sources, including Spotify, iTunes, Amazon, YouTube, BandCamp and more, on October 6, 2023.
