A standout season for Scott’s Branch football was reflected in postseason honors this week, as three Eagles were named to South Carolina Football Coaches Association all-state teams and several others earned honorable mention recognition. One East Clarendon senior was also recognized by the association.

Scott’s Branch defensive lineman Danny Ragin, wide receiver Keith Rogers and quarterback Jaiven Conyers were selected to SCFCA all-state teams following voting by a committee of coaches from across the state.

The SCFCA annually selects an Overall All-State Team made up of the top players regardless of classification, along with all-state teams by class and honorable mentions. Players must be nominated by their head coach or selected to participate in the Touchstone Energy Cooperatives Bowl or Shrine Bowl to be eligible for consideration.

Ragin was a consistent presence on the defensive front for the Scott’s Branch Eagles, helping set the tone for a unit that limited opponents throughout the season. He totaled 63 tackles over 10 varsity games, including 17 stops behind the line of scrimmage, and finished with three sacks.

Rogers earned all-state recognition after making a strong impression during his first season with the program. The junior hauled in 27 receptions for 429 yards and five touchdowns, averaging nearly 16 yards per catch, and added more than 100 return yards to finish with over 500 all-purpose yards in six varsity appearances.

Conyers, a senior, was honored for his role directing the Eagles’ offense during their deep postseason run. He passed for 2,532 yards and 31 touchdowns, completing 173 of 318 attempts, and averaged more than 125 yards per game through the air while leading a balanced offensive attack.

Four additional Scott’s Branch players were named honorable mention selections. Wide receiver Christian Green recorded 28 catches for 390 yards and six touchdowns. Linebacker Nazaiah Richardson paced the Eagles defensively with 125 tackles, five tackles for a loss, two sacks, a fumble recovery and a defensive touchdown.

Athlete Quintin Jackson filled several roles throughout the season, including stepping in at quarterback late in the year. He accounted for more than 1,200 yards of total offense, combining passing, rushing and receiving production, and added impact plays on defense with 52 tackles, two interceptions and two defensive touchdowns. Nyren Bowman earned honorable mention honors as both a receiver and linebacker after finishing with 426 receiving yards, 10 touchdowns and 90 tackles, along with multiple impact plays in the backfield.

East Clarendon senior Xavier Smith also received honorable mention recognition in Class 2A. The offensive and defensive lineman posted 28 knockdowns on offense and contributed 22 solo tackles, eight tackles for a loss and one sack on defense for the East Clarendon Wolverines.

The SCFCA honors capped a memorable season for Scott’s Branch, whose postseason success was driven by production across the roster and strong leadership on both sides of the ball.
