Pilot Club organizes shoe drive

Posted

The Clarendon County Pilot Club is working once again with the Funds2Orgs to collect gently worn or new shoes that will be shipped to developing nations. The Pilot Club had a previous shoe drive in 2018 and exceeded their goal, so the members are hoping to accomplish that again this year.

The Pilot Club supports many entities in Clarendon County. The money the club raises goes toward five different one thousand dollar scholarships for local high school seniors going into the medical field. They have also taken on helping the Turbeville Children's Home.

The current shoe drive is from now until Mar. 12, 2023. The drop off location is at Manning Methodist Church from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday and 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Fridays. Manning Methodist Church is located at 17 E Rigby Street in Manning, SC. Please rubber band the pairs of shoes together.

Vice-Chairman of fundraising Margaret Robertson said, "We appreciate all the past support given to the Pilot Club from the residents of Clarendon County and look forward to the continued support of our service organization."

According to the Funds2Org website, it is estimated that 300 million people do not own shoes. Something that many people may take for granted can mean so much to others. For more information on the shoe drive, contact Margaret Robertson at 803-435-8289.
