Phi Omega Omega is enhancing our environment one project at a time

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated Phi Omega Omega Chapter continue spreading the fires that was started by its founders almost a century ago.

Our founders knew, together we could have a great impact on this nation, and ultimately the world. We have the ingenuity, the passion, and the ability to positively impact societal problems we see.

The “Enhancing Our Environment” program initiative committee, has been tasked with planting 7 trees.  Soror Mary Ann Bassard states, last year, we were only a few trees short of our goal. This year, we have already exceeded our goal by planting an additional 8 Overcup Oak trees donated by the tree giveaway held at Manning High School on Feb. 3, 2024. These trees were planted in the backyard of a new first-time homeowner.

Meanwhile, Soror Karen Hilton-Sanders and some of the students at Manning Elementary School are planting onions and potatoes in their garden this week. They have been tasting potato chips and reading books about couch potatoes and the magic pot that kept producing potatoes. A parent who is from New York stated that this is such an enjoyable experience as this is her first time managing or starting a garden.

Can you feel the fire? We sure do!! Every day we make history by planting trees, feeding children, focusing on our seniors, encouraging people to vote and many more.
