The gymnasium at East Clarendon Middle-High School was packed Tuesday night for the first ever National Night Out in Turbeville.
Members of the law enforcement community, elected officials and several businesses were on hand to distribute school supplies for Clarendon County school children. The nationwide event is also meant to strengthen ties between police and residents while promoting stronger, crime free neighborhoods.
"This is the most fantastic thing I've ever seen," said Tom Stone, the board chairman of United Ministries in Clarendon County, which helped sponsor the event. "I wish every citizen in Clarendon County could be here tonight to see what's going on."
