MJHS donates food

Posted

As we enter the holiday season, it is imperative that we think about the spirit of giving, community service, and helping those who may be a little less fortunate than us. Well, that is exactly what the students and faculty of Manning Junior High School (MJHS) exemplified last month. The Cheerleading Squad at MJHS sponsored a Food Drive for the local Clarendon County United Ministries. The cheerleaders petitioned students and staff at MJHS as well as community members to support their efforts. Homeroom classrooms competed for the title of most food items donated knowing that the winners would receive a celebratory pizza party.

A huge shout out to Ms. Martirez’s 7th grade homeroom for winning the 7th grade pizza party and Ms. Abrajano’s homeroom for winning the 8th grade pizza party. Another hearty thank you goes to Mr. Terry Rodgers, Manager of Piggly Wiggly Manning, and many of their customers who visited the store on October 22, 2022 and made contributions of non-perishable food items and monetary donations to support this worthy cause.

On November 9, 2022 the “EXCELLENT” students and staff of MJHS presented the United Ministries of Clarendon County with a donation of over 5,000 nonperishable food items. Additionally, MJHS contributed a monetary donation that would purchase more than 3,000 pounds of food from the regional food bank, according to Ms. Kathy Bryce, Director of the Ministry. What an “EXCELLENT” way for the “EXCELLENT” MJHS School Family to show up and support their community during this holiday season.
