Melissa Eaddy Ridgeway, 63, wife of Wilburn Richard “Ricky” Ridgeway, Jr., died Sunday, November 20, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born October 27, 1959, in Kingstree, she was a daughter of the late Kenneth Bernard “Buster” Eaddy and the late Walton Hughes Eaddy. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of Manning; a son, Richard Walton “Walt” Ridgeway (Allison) of Manning; a daughter, Ashley Rebecca Ridgeway of Manning; four grandchildren, Breanna Hodge, Ian Ridgeway, Tristan Ridgeway and Sloan Ridgeway; two sisters, Marie Mills of Sumter and Serena Dovell of Birmingham, AL; two brothers. Ken Eaddy of St. Charles and Chuck Eaddy (Sara) of Alabama; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved canine companions, Swinney & Lucy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Roff.
A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at Emmanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Drew Taylor officiating. Burial followed in Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Walt Ridgeway, John Parrack II, Rick Richards, Michael Feagin, Jay Boykin and Alex Stegner. Honorary pallbearers will be T.J. Ridgeway and Gibb Mathis.
Visitation was one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. in the church fellowship hall and other times at the residence, 1141 Abernathy Street, Manning.
