Clarendon County School District Social Work Coordinator Kyndra Johnson has been named the 2026 South Carolina Social Worker of the Year by the South Carolina School Social Work Association, according to a release from the district.

The honor recognizes Johnson’s work supporting students and families across the district and her commitment to addressing the needs of the “whole child,” school officials said.

“Every child deserves support that goes beyond academics,” Johnson said. “When we focus on the emotional, social, and physical well-being of our students, we empower them to thrive not just in school but in life. It is essential to cultivate an environment where all aspects of a child’s development are nurtured.”

District officials said Johnson’s efforts have had a meaningful impact on students and staff, citing her dedication to ensuring children have the resources and support needed to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.

Clarendon County School District invited the community to join in recognizing Johnson’s achievement and her continued advocacy for students.

The South Carolina School Social Work Association promotes the profession of school social work to enhance the well-being of children, families and communities across the state.
