Geathers, a seasoned professional in local government, brings a rich background to his new position. Reflecting on his journey, he shared, “My first experience in local government came through my father, who served as a city councilor for many years. His dedication sparked my interest in this field and ultimately led me to where I am today.”

Originally hailing from Kannapolis, a suburb north of Charlotte, Geathers earned his bachelor’s degree from North Carolina Central University and pursued graduate studies at UNC Charlotte in public administration. His diverse experiences include roles as a town planner, director of Public Works, and town manager in various municipalities.

Geathers expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve Summerton, noting the council’s support during the interview process. “The responsiveness of the town council and their investment in my background were key factors in my decision to join Summerton,” he remarked.

“I am committed to ensuring that we provide efficient and effective services to our residents while aligning with the town’s long-term goals.”

As Geathers settles into his new role, he emphasizes the importance of prioritizing projects that serve the community’s needs. He plans on focusing on initiatives such as infrastructure improvements and modernizing communication channels. These projects should enhance the town’s capacity to support growth while preserving its unique character.

While Geathers resides in nearby Sumter, he remains deeply committed to Summerton’ success. His primary focus is on ensuring that the town government operates efficiently and effectively. He intends on capitalizing on opportunities within reason, mindful of managing the town’s resources responsibly.
