Clarendon County School District culinary students recently attended the Future Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) National Conference in Denver, Colorado, and received honors.

Based on placement in the regional conference, five CCSD students were selected to represent the state of South Carolina nationally. While ZaKia Baxter received a Silver in the culinary competition, Alayna Lemon represented as the SC FCCLA Vice-President of Community Service, Jakez Rush, Shayla Bennett, and Jaylen Sweat attended as top members of the organization. Mrs. Jean Shaw, Culinary Instructor at F.E. DuBose Career Center, is proud of the success of the culinary program.

“This is a great group of students. Our program continues to grow knowledgeable students in culinary arts to prepare them for a career in food service, catering, and event planning,” said Mrs. Jean Shaw.

CCSD high school students interested in culinary arts travel to F.E. DuBose Career Center to complete classes and earn food service certifications.

“F.E. DuBose Career Center continues to prepare students for careers of their choice in Culinary Arts, Law Enforcement, Health Science, Welding, Early Childhood, Cosmetology, Building and Construction, and Automotive Mechanics,” said Dr. Keisa Carr, Interim Director at FEDCC. “ We are preparing our students for their future, and these culinary students are ahead of the game.”
