On Aug. 6, an officer with the Manning Police Department was dispatched to a home on Sunset Drive in reference to shots fired into a dwelling. The officer made contact with the complainant who advised that while he was at a friend’s residence located at 415 Holden St., he believed that someone shot through the window at him. The complainant advised that he was sitting in the kitchen of the residence when he saw the window get shattered. He went on to eplain that he believed it to be Timothy Burney who attempted to shoot him because Burney was the only one that wasn’t in the house at the time the window shattered. The officer went to the residence to check on everyone inside. The officer made contact with a resident of the home who advised that no one shot through the window and that kids were playing outside and caused the window to shatter. The officer completed his report.

 

FAMILY OFFENSES, NONVIOLENT

On Aug. 4, an officer with the Manning Police Department was dispatched to a residence in reference to a disturbance between the complainant and her granddaughter. The complainant advised that her 15 year old granddaughter got upset because the complainant wouldn’t take her to her boyfriend’s house so the juvenile began trying to take the complainant’s phone out of her hand while she was talking on the phone. The complainant stated that it frightened her to the point that she had to leave the residence and go next door to her brother’s house to call 911. The complainant also stated that the juvenile has an extensive history with law enforcement and being violent. The complainant advised that her granddaughter came to live with her and her husband due to being a problem at her mother’s house but that she can’t live with the juvenile for much longer. The officer made contact with the juvenile who was very uncooperative and would only provide statements with short answers. However, she did advise that she did reach for the complainant’s phone and asked to speak with her grandfather. The complainant advised that she wished to prosecute her granddaughter. However, after the officer advised her that the process would ultimately require the granddaughter to be picked up by the legal guardian and brought back home, she said, “There is no point then.”

 

ASSAULT/INTIMIDATION

On Aug. 2, officers with the Manning Police Department was dispatched to apartments on E Hospital St. in Manning in reference to possible threats being made. The caller described the subject as being a short, heavy set black male wearing a navy blue shirt, a black hat with red graphics, and black shorts standing in the parking lot area of the apartment complex. The officers were unable to locate anyone in the parking lot matching the description but they made contact with the complainant who advised officers that he sold his food stamps to a Michael Powers for $40 and since then Powers has been contacting him via telephone and in person making threats toward him and saying he wants to fight him and that he needs his money back. Later in the shift, an officer made contact with Powers and Powers advised that he did in fact purchase the food stamp card from the complainant with the understanding that it contained approximately $97 and when he went to use it he found that the card was revoked. Powers stated that since then he has been telling the complainant that he needs his money back.

 

BREACH OF TRUST

On Aug. 1, an officer with the Manning Police Department was dispatched to a location on Sunset Drive in Manning to speak with a complainant who advised that a now ex-employee, suspect Jordan Akeem Brock, has been using the company gas card issued to him over the past month and filling vehicles up with fuel. The complainant stated that Brock has filled his girlfriend’s vehicle and other people’s vehicles. The complainant is unsure at this time of the exact amount charged to the card, how many incidents occurred, and the exact location of all of the incidents. The complainant stated they did know that it occurred a lot of times and that a lot of the incidents occurred at the Fuel 24 stations within the city limits of Manning. The suspect was on scene and admitted to everything that the complainant accused him of but also advised that he had not used the gas card wrongfully lately. The complainant then showed the officer photos of the suspect at the pumps filling up friends’ vehicles. The officer advised that all the evidence would be collected and evaluated. The officer advised the suspect to expect to be contacted soon.
