Posted

The Manning Police Department is investigating an aggravated assault, vandalism and disorderly conduct case after an early-morning incident linked to a party at a North Brooks Street business.

According to an incident report, officers responded around 2:21 a.m. Dec. 26 to Brunch-O-Holics, 15 N. Brooks St., after a call referencing an active fight. When officers arrived, they found a man on the ground bleeding heavily from his nose, left arm and right leg, the report states. Police requested EMS and applied a tourniquet to the man’s left forearm due to what was described as a severe laceration. The man was then transported by ambulance to the McLeod emergency room.

The report states the party host told officers there had been no fight at the business, but said the injured man was heavily intoxicated and had gotten into a verbal argument with a DJ before becoming more irate, removing his shirt and running down the street.

A short time later, the host reported hearing a loud crash, and patrons began yelling for him to come down the street to 35 N. Brooks St., where they found a broken window and the man bleeding, according to the report. The host told officers the man was brought back to the front of the business to wait for law enforcement and EMS.

During the response, police also made contact with a woman who said she thought her leg was broken and that she had been transported to the McLeod emergency room by personal vehicle, the report states. Officers later went to the hospital and confirmed the woman’s leg was broken. She and another person told police the injury happened when she was knocked down as people ran from a large group of men who were fighting, according to the report.

Officers observed the front glass window at 35 N. Brooks St. had been broken out, and attempts to locate owner information were unsuccessful, the report states.

The case remains active, according to the incident report.
