Pauline Wels Wilson, widow of Joe L. Wilson, died Friday, Aug. 4, 2017, at her her home in Sumter.

Born in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Lula Wells Wilson. She was a faithful member of Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church and served in many auxiliaries. In 2004, she was honored as "Mother of the Church." She was employed with Georgia Pacific Co. for many years.

Survivors include six daughters, Ida Stephens, Queen Williams, Polly (Carnell) Baxter, Annie Williams, Inez Grinnell and Brenda Wilson; three sons, John (Luethel) Wilson, Levan Wilson and Aaron Wilson; a number of grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; a number of great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Juanita (Eddie) Clark and Mary Wilson; five brothers, Joe Louis (Debra) Wilson, David (Clara) Wilson, John (Terri) Wilson, David (Malvenia) Wilson and Robert Wilson; and many other dear relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held noon Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 9124 Plowden Mill Road in Alcolu, with the Rev. Alonzo Washington presiding and the Rev. Mary J. Ragins as eulogist.

Interment will follow at Wells Cemetery in Sumter.
