Floyd chosen by Black River legion for Boys State

Carolina Academy junior Bradley Floyd is one of five young men chosen by Black River Post No. 149 of New Zion to participate this summer in the American Legion Palmetto Boys State at Anderson University. Floyd, the son of Brad and Shelly Floyd of New Zion, will attend Boys State from June 1-17. At Carolina Academy in Lake City, he is a member of the Beta Club and is an honors student. He is a member of the STCA theater group and the 2016 chorus. He is active in football and baseball and was a member of the FFA at East Clarendon High School in Turbeville. He is also a member of Barrineau Pentecostal Holiness Church, where he is active in the youth group. Boys State will feature more than 1,000 South Carolina residents attending a vigorous week of intense training in local, county and state government. Attendees will elect a governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, secretary of state, state treasurer, state comptroller, Supreme Court justice and members of the House of Representatives and the Senate. Additionally, students may take classes in law and newspaper editing, as well as participate in the Palmetto Boys State band.
