SUMMERTON – The Clarendon Hall Varsity Saints improved to 7-5 on the season Friday night with a 12-0 conference victory over Andrew Jackson Academy.
The Saints now stand at 5-5 in conference play, with two games remaining for the season.
The Saints’ pitchers combined for a one-hit shutout, facing the minimum 15 batters in a five-inning game shortened by the 10-run mercy rule.
Dustin Way pitched four innings, giving up an infield single. The Confederates were able to get three runners on base; however, one was caught stealing, while one was retired on a double play. The third was picked off of first base.
Gavin Allan came in to relieve Way for the fifth inning, facing the minimum three batters with one strikeout. Way finished the night with seven strikeouts.
Tilton McCrae led the offense, going 3-3, with two runs and two RBI. Trey Thomas was 3-4, with two runs and three RBI.
