Harriett Wannamaker Harden Gamble

Harriett Wannamaker Harden Gamble, 94, wife of the Rev. Julian B. Gamble, died Friday, Oct. 24, 2014, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital.

Born in Richland County, she was a daughter of the late Charles Douglas Harden and Miriam Bull Harden. She was retired from South Carolina public and private school systems as a teacher, her schools including Hebron, East Clarendon High School, Barnwell Junior High School, Bowman, Wade Hampton Academy and Brookland Plantation.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a member of Turbeville Southern Methodist Church. Mrs. Gamble was a faithful pastor’s wife. She was a loving mother, deeply loved by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and extended families. She has left her family and friends with treasured memories. Her life touched many lives.

She was  preceded in death by a granddaughter, Nichole Rose Knight; and three sisters, Ethel Harden Rowe, Elizabeth H. Welling and Miriam H. Ringer.

Survivors besides her best friend and devoted husband of 72 years of Turbeville include three daughters, Julianne G. Acker (Jim) of Greenville, Miriam “Mit” Knight of Salem, and Mary “Meg” Boyles (Philip) of Easley; eight grandchildren with five spouses; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services for Harriett Wannamaker Harden Gamble were held at Sunday Oct. 26, 2014, at Turbeville Southern Methodist Church, with burial in the church cemetery, directed by Floyd Funeral Home of Olanta.

Ladies Bible Class of Turbeville Southern Methodist Church served as honorary pallbearers.

Grandsons served as pallbearers.

Floyd Funeral Home of Olanta handled arrangements.
