The Lake Marion Alzheimer's Support Group's biggest fundraiser of the year is scheduled for Saturday.
The 10th annual Alzheimer's Poker Run will hold registration from 10 a.m. to noon at Manning Restaurant, 476 N. Brooks St. Reservation forms may also be picked up before 9 a.m. Saturday at Lake Vue Landing, where the run will end at 3 p.m.
Betty Welloch, the program director for the support group, said the event usually raises about $1,000. Motorcycles and vehicles are welcome. The registration fee is $30 a couple or $20 per person with first prize getting $100, second prize getting $75 and third place winning a $50 IGA gift card.
In addition to the prizes, there will be a barbecue cookout and door prizes donated by various merchants.
Welloch noted that September is World Brain Month.
The support group meets once a month at 2 p.m. on the third Monday at New Covenant Presbyterian Church, 2833 Alex Harvin Highway.
